The Scout Movement is a voluntary organisation which is open to all young people between the ages of 6 and 25 years of age. The Association operates an equal opportunities policy which makes Scouting accessible to all irrespective of gender, disability, race or religion. This is subject to individual Group practice but all new Groups must now be co-educational. It is one of the most progressive youth organisations in the world. The young people meet in one of the 5 sections appropriate to their age. Nationally there are over half a million members, with over 31 million throughout the world, in over 160 countries.
